Bryan submitted bill to fund completion of Paul E. Joseph Stadium

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. submitted legislation to the 33rd Legislature on January 24, 2020, seeking to allocate $8.2 million from the Internal Revenue Matching Fund to complete the Paul E. Joseph Stadium renovation in Frederiksted.

In a transmittal letter to Senate President Novelle Francis Jr., Bryan asked lawmakers to approve the allocation so the money could be used to finish the reconstruction based on completed design plans.

The administration said the stadium project was intended to support baseball, Little League and other field sports, and to provide a permanent location for the Crucian Festival Village.

In his State of the Territory address on January 13, 2020, Bryan said the administration anticipated the stadium's completion within 12 months.
