Nearly 80 Virgin Islands government employees honored at recognition ceremonies

Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp recognized nearly 80 government employees during the Division of Personnel’s 29th Annual Employee Recognition Week ceremonies held at Government House on St. Thomas and St. Croix, according to a June 4, 2018 Government House statement.

The statement said the employees were honored for their service following Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Mapp also recognized the Office of the Governor’s Employees of the Year: Darren Smith, facility engineer in the St. Thomas-St. John District, and Lamarr Jacobs, uniformed security supervisor in the St. Croix District.

Personnel Director Milton E. Potter also acknowledged government employees during the ceremonies.

The statement said Mapp told employees that federal resources coming to the territory could create possibilities for increased salaries and compensation, and that the government was recruiting new workers.
