WAPA interns presented summer projects at end-of-internship event

Eight engineering interns at the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority presented their summer projects to WAPA leadership during end-of-internship events held in the St. Thomas-St. John and St. Croix districts, according to an Aug. 17, 2023, authority release.

WAPA said the presentations covered work and experience gained in power generation, transmission and distribution, water systems, project management and information technology.

The interns were identified as Melvyn Fox in production maintenance on St. Croix; N’Kosi Benjamin in transmission and distribution design and construction on St. Croix; Michael Dow Jr. in water distribution and design and construction on St. Croix; Anjahlique Bowry in water distribution and design and construction on St. Thomas; Dylon Smith in project management on St. Thomas; Darrol Gooding in project management on St. Thomas; Shaudae Richardson in information technology on St. Thomas; and Jalani Phillips Jr. in information technology on St. Thomas.

WAPA said it employed 39 interns during the summer. The authority said some interns were expected to continue through the first quarter of 2024 while others were returning to the University of the Virgin Islands and colleges and universities on the mainland.
