Bryan issued statement marking 103rd anniversary of Transfer Day

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued a statement on March 31, 2020, marking the 103rd anniversary of Transfer Day.

In the statement, Bryan said the U.S. Virgin Islands' response to COVID-19 had prevented the usual ceremonial observance. He urged residents to reflect on the historical significance of Transfer Day and on the territory's economic and political development over the past 103 years.

Bryan also said the territory was at a point that required a more meaningful examination of its political status and called for a comprehensive public education campaign on options for self-determination.
