WAPA said Estate Bovoni waterline expansion was completed in August 2022
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on Aug. 25, 2022, that it had completed the Estate Bovoni Waterline Expansion Project on St. Thomas.
According to the archived release, the project added 4,720 feet of new PVC water mains and service lines for about 95 residents in neighborhoods near the Purple Shop in Estate Bovoni. Fire hydrants were also installed along the transmission main.
WAPA said the expansion extended service to nearby neighborhoods that were not included when water mains were installed for the Bovoni Housing Complex in 1989. The authority said residents in those areas had historically relied during drier months on water haulers.
The release said the distribution system would be gravity-fed from the existing Donoe Water Tank, which WAPA said would help sustain service during power outages. The project was funded with $215,191 through Act No. 7233, identified in the release as a reallocation approved by the 33rd Legislature.
