Governor and officials outlined recovery projects at Anna’s Retreat town hall on St. Thomas
Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp, Lt. Gov. Osbert E. Potter and other Virgin Islands officials gave residents of Anna’s Retreat, St. Thomas, an update on recovery efforts during a town hall meeting at Joseph Gomez Elementary School in the week of Oct. 29, 2018.
According to Government House, the officials discussed employment opportunities, extended benefits for displaced workers, assistance for farmers through the Community Development Block Grant program, $10.3 million secured for fisheries in the territory, and the post-hurricane roofing program.
Public Works Commissioner Nelson Petty Jr. described roadway projects planned for Anna’s Hope. Robert Graham of the Virgin Islands Housing Authority and Daryl Griffith of the Virgin Islands Housing Finance Authority presented an overview of housing opportunities across the territory.
Officials also took questions on fines for improper disposal of large appliances, extension of potable water service, and plans to improve the Alvin McBean Complex.
