Bryan signs labor agreements covering government and lottery workers

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. signed tentative wage agreements reached by the Office of Collective Bargaining with several unions, including the United Steelworkers on behalf of the USW Masters bargaining unit, Government House said on Nov. 14, 2022.

The USW Masters bargaining unit covers more than 500 non-supervisory employees in 15 Virgin Islands government agencies, including nurses, school monitors, social workers, cashiers and tax, accounting, financial and information-technology professionals. The tentative wage agreement took effect on Oct. 1, 2022, and runs through Sept. 30, 2025.

Government House said Bryan also signed a collective bargaining agreement on Sept. 29, 2022, with the Seafarers International Union covering corrections officers in the Bureau of Corrections and the Department of Human Services Youth Rehabilitation Center. That agreement took effect on Oct. 1, 2020, and runs through Sept. 30, 2025.

On Oct. 12, 2022, Bryan also signed tentative wage agreements between the Virgin Islands Lottery Commission and the United Steelworkers support staff and supervisors bargaining units. Both agreements took effect on Oct. 1, 2021, and run through Sept. 30, 2024.
