Bryan returned to Virgin Islands ahead of Tropical Storm Karen
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. returned to the U.S. Virgin Islands on Sept. 22, 2019, after rescheduling a planned trip to Washington, D.C., because of concerns about the path of Tropical Storm Karen.
Government House said the Washington trip had been scheduled for meetings with federal officials on multiple issues affecting the territory.
As of 11 a.m. on Sept. 22, 2019, the National Hurricane Center had issued a tropical storm watch for the U.S. Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Forecasts at that time showed the storm approaching the U.S. Virgin Islands on Sept. 24, 2019.
The Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency said it would issue periodic storm updates.
