Bryan approved four bills from Aug. 30 legislative session
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. approved four bills sent by the 34th Legislature after its Aug. 30, 2022, session, according to a Government House statement published Sept. 15, 2022.
The measures included Bill No. 34-0289, now Act 8612, which appropriated General Fund money for outstanding government liabilities for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2022, including fuel purchases and retroactive wages for government employees and retirees.
Bryan also signed Bill No. 34-0299, now Act 8613, ratifying Hotel Development Act financing for the owners of the Frenchman’s Reef Marriott resort; Bill No. 34-0301, now Act 8614, clarifying that rum distilleries are excluded from the definition of an agricultural processing plant in Act 8569; and Bill No. 34-0244, now Act 8611, amending Virgin Islands law to expand and clarify the definition of naturopathic medicine and the physical modalities used in naturopathy.
The statement said Act 8612 also amended prior laws involving supplemental appropriations for the Virgin Islands Hospitals and Health Facilities Corporation and Tourism Advertising Revolving Fund appropriations for Education Department interscholastic competition expenses, and appropriated $100,000 to the Division of Personnel for operation of the Virgin Islands Public Officials Compensation Commission.
Bryan also acknowledged passage of Resolution No. 1892, Bill No. 34-0300, and the confirmation of Gerson Martinez to the V.I. Aquaculture and Mariculture Commission; Dale Browne and Carl Tesitor Jr. to the Virgin Islands Conservation District; Dr. Learie Lindsay to the V.I. Board of Medical Examiners; and Dr. William Delone to the UVI Research and Technology Park Board of Directors.
