WAPA board approved contract changes, design award and benefits renewal on Sept. 28

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority’s governing board approved several contract and administrative items at its Sept. 28 meeting.

Under Planning and Economic Development Committee matters, the board approved a 12-month no-cost time extension and amended payment schedule for the Hannah’s Rest Rehabilitation Project, identified as SC-02-23. It also approved a $2,690,932.24 change-order increase and time extension for the Campo Rico Waterline Rehabilitation Project, SC-02-213, setting an end date of April 28, 2025. The board also authorized WAPA to award the Northside Road Waterline Rehabilitation Design contract to Stanley Consultants for $6.45 million.

Under Finance and Audit Committee matters, the board approved an amendment to the Composite Pole Project contract, SC-20-21, with Haugland Energy for $7,783,100.61 for additional work in St. Thomas, along with a time extension through July 31, 2024. The board also approved renewal of the 2024 employee benefits package.

The release also said Lionel Selwood had joined the governing board.

On a communication matter, the release said Chairman Fleming, Member Turnbull and Member Boynes-Jackson voted yes, while Member Selwood and Secretary Young abstained. The motion passed, 3-0, with two abstentions.
