Bryan proclaimed October as Rett Syndrome Awareness Month in the U.S. Virgin Islands

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued a proclamation on Oct. 12 designating October as Rett Syndrome Awareness Month in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The proclamation highlighted Rett syndrome awareness and recognized Ella’s Hope Inc., a local nonprofit that works to raise awareness of the disorder in the territory and help fund global research initiatives.

Bryan also recognized Ella Gaspard, a Virgin Islander with Rett syndrome and the namesake of Ella’s Hope Inc., in the proclamation.

Rett syndrome is a neurological disorder that the proclamation said disproportionately affects young girls.
