Bryan traveled to Washington for federal and governors meetings

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. traveled to Washington, D.C., during the week of Feb. 20, 2024, for a series of meetings, according to Government House. He was expected to return to the territory on Feb. 27, 2024.

Government House said Bryan's schedule included the annual meeting of the U.S. Department of the Interior's Interagency Group on Insular Areas and the winter meeting of the National Governors Association.

At the governors association meeting, Bryan and Idaho Gov. Brad Little were scheduled to lead a discussion on Farm Bill priorities released by the association in September 2023. Government House said the two governors co-chaired the association's task force on education, workforce and community investment.

Government House also said Bryan planned to meet with State Department officials to discuss a special visa waiver program aimed at addressing workforce shortages in the territory and recovery-related labor demands, as well as the territory's potential participation in CARICOM.

Lt. Gov. Tregenza A. Roach served as acting governor during Bryan's absence, according to the statement.
