WAPA announced second phase of Frederiksted waterline rehabilitation project
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority announced on January 10, 2020, that it had launched the second phase of the Frederiksted Waterline Rehabilitation Project during a ceremony at Verne I. Richards Memorial Park on St. Croix.
WAPA said construction was scheduled to begin on February 10, 2020, and be completed by October 1, 2020. The work was to include replacement of about 13,000 feet of six-inch water lines and about 2,900 feet of 10-inch water lines in Frederiksted.
According to the authority, the project was funded through a $3.7 million federal Drinking Water Capital Improvement Grant Program grant administered locally by the Department of Planning and Natural Resources.
WAPA said the new water mains were expected to improve water quality and water pressure in St. Croix's west end.
