Bryan administration said Hull Bay ramp project would keep existing ramp in use during construction
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. said on August 9, 2023, that the Hull Bay Ramp and Parking Improvements Project was moving forward after years of planning and public meetings.
According to Government House, the project was initiated in 2011, with initial design plans unveiled in 2013 after two rounds of public meetings. The administration said full construction documents were not completed at that stage because of funding issues. In 2017, renewed funding led to another round of public meetings and updated designs, but the existing Hull Bay ramp collapsed in February 2019 and funds were redirected to repair it.
The administration said the existing ramp would remain in place while a new ramp was built and would be removed afterward. The current ramp is just under 100 feet long, while the proposed ramp would be 120 feet long, with a lower pitch and an extension ending in 4.5 feet of water.
The project also included parking changes for vessel launches and beachgoers. Government House said the plans called for the removal of 13 trees, with 10 to be replaced.
Government House said a public town hall on the redevelopment plans was held in February 2022. It also said another public meeting was scheduled for August 10, 2023, at The Shack in Hull Bay.
