Bryan administration announced labor shed study for U.S. Virgin Islands workforce

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. announced on Feb. 22, 2022, that the U.S. Virgin Islands would undertake a labor shed study to assess workforce skills, identify training needs and recommend ways to prepare residents for future job opportunities.

Government House said the study was funded with support from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Economic Development Administration.

According to the announcement, the study was intended to examine the territory’s workforce and the training and education systems that support it, identify competitive advantages and potential challenges, and focus on current and future talent needs in eight target industry sectors identified in the USVI Vision 2040 report.

The administration said the study would also identify occupations in greatest demand and recommend how to train and upskill residents for those careers.

Government House said J&M Global Solutions was conducting the study in conjunction with the University of the Virgin Islands.
