VIPA said airports remained open and seaports were closed on Aug. 22 as Tropical Storm Laura affected the U.S. Virgin Islands
The Virgin Islands Port Authority said on Aug. 22 that the territory’s airports remained open and operating normally as Tropical Storm Laura affected the U.S. Virgin Islands.
VIPA said United Airlines canceled its flight to St. Thomas and Cape Air canceled its flights to San Juan on Aug. 22. The authority said flights were scheduled to arrive and depart normally on Aug. 23, except that JetBlue would operate one flight between St. Thomas and San Juan.
VIPA said seaports across the territory were closed by the U.S. Coast Guard on Aug. 22 and were expected to remain closed until Aug. 23. Silver/Seaborne did not operate its seaplane service on Aug. 22 and could not resume service until the seaports reopened.
