Virgin Islands scheduled September services to mark one year since Hurricanes Irma and Maria
Government House said on August 28, 2018, that Gov. Kenneth Mapp and Lt. Gov. Osbert Potter planned thanksgiving services on St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John to mark the one-year anniversaries of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
The first service was scheduled for September 9, 2018, at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center on St. Thomas from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Additional services were scheduled for September 23, 2018, on St. Croix at the St. Croix Educational Complex and for September 30, 2018, on St. John at Franklin Powell Park in Cruz Bay.
Government House said the St. Thomas service would include music by the Living Hope Cathedral Praise & Worship Team, the VI ASAPH Praise Team and Edificadores De La Fe, with prayers and scripture readings by faith leaders.
The St. Thomas service was set to air on 1340 AM WSTA Radio, and the St. Croix service on 970 AM WSTX. Government House said all three services would be streamed on the Virgin Islands Consortium website.
