Bryan announced senior fitness classes and updated weekly briefing items on Aug. 15
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. said during the Government House weekly briefing on Aug. 15, 2022, that the administration would begin a second health program, "Work Out Tuesdays and Thursdays," as part of the Our Best Life Health and Wellness initiative.
The program was scheduled to offer free fitness and aerobics classes for seniors from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday from Aug. 23 through Sept. 29. Classes were to be held at the Altona Lagoon Fit Lot on St. Croix, Emancipation Garden on St. Thomas, and the Sports, Parks and Recreation Center on St. John.
Bryan also said the St. Croix route for the final two weeks of "Walk Out Wednesdays" would begin at D.C. Canegata Ball Park, continue up the bypass, down King Street and return to D.C. Canegata. The St. Thomas and St. John routes were unchanged.
During the briefing, VITEMA Director Daryl Jaschen said no storm systems were expected to affect the territory at that time and urged residents to prepare in advance of any advisories or warnings.
Government House also reported a 6.5% seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate as of Aug. 15, with 189 active cases and 122 deaths. It said three COVID-19 patients were hospitalized at Juan F. Luis Hospital on St. Croix and four were hospitalized at Schneider Regional Medical Center on St. Thomas.
