The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on November 22, 2022, that it had relocated its St. Thomas Line Department to a new headquarters at Market Square East.

WAPA said the move from Bolongo provided more space for employees, additional room for Transmission and Distribution operations, and flat terrain for Authority vehicles. The utility said the relocation would save about $22,000 a month.

According to the release, most of the facility build-out was completed in-house by WAPA personnel. The authority also said its next phase would be to pursue a home-based facility for lineworkers on St. Croix.
