NYPA experts met with WAPA leadership on Sept. 11 to review recurring outages
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on Sept. 12, 2019, that its leadership had met the previous evening with representatives of the New York Power Authority to brief them on outages that had occurred on St. Thomas and St. Croix in the preceding weeks.
WAPA said the NYPA team, working with WAPA operations personnel, would gather technical and historical information to determine the root cause of the disruptions and develop short- and long-term plans to address the issues.
Executive Director Lawrence J. Kupfer said an update on an immediate corrective action plan and implementation process was expected within the following few days.
