Bryan issues statement on death of Austin “Babe” Monsanto
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued a statement on October 19, 2020, on the death of Austin “Babe” Monsanto, a retired Virgin Islands Port Authority marine director and longtime Rotarian.
In the statement, Bryan described Monsanto as a veteran, educator and longtime marine manager at the Port Authority, and extended condolences to Monsanto’s family and friends, including his wife, Alda Schulterbrandt Monsanto, and his children, Trevore, Stephen and Edwin.
Government House said Monsanto was honored in 2007 for public service to the Virgin Islands when the 27th Legislature approved Act 6935, renaming the Crown Bay cruise ship terminal on St. Thomas the Austin “Babe” Monsanto Marine Terminal.
