Veterans Affairs scheduled town halls in St. Thomas and St. Croix to recruit physicians

The Virgin Islands Office of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced town hall meetings on St. Thomas and St. Croix to recruit physicians to join the VA's provider network.

According to the announcement published April 10, 2018, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs officials were to explain the newly created Providers Agreement Program and how it would allow collaboration between the VA and community health-care providers serving veterans in the territory.

The meetings were scheduled for April 11, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the University of the Virgin Islands St. Thomas campus ACC Conference Room, and April 12, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Juan F. Luis Hospital's first-floor conference room on St. Croix.

The announcement said the effort was intended to reduce veterans' travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico, for services that could be provided in the Virgin Islands.
