Bryan honored U.S. Virgin Islands Vietnam veterans at St. Croix ceremony

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. honored U.S. Virgin Islands veterans who served in the Vietnam War during a ceremony at Government House on St. Croix on April 3, 2019.

The event was held in observance of National Vietnam Veterans Day, which is commemorated nationally on March 29, and was attended by dozens of Vietnam veterans and their families.

Government House said the April 3 ceremony was Bryan's first official meeting with a group of Virgin Islands veterans as governor and the first event hosted at Government House to honor the territory's Vietnam veterans in connection with the national observance.

Office of Veterans Affairs Director Patrick Farrell welcomed veterans at the ceremony. The Office of Veterans Affairs also arranged transportation for Vietnam veterans living in the St. Thomas-St. John district to travel to St. Croix.

During the ceremony, Bryan gave each veteran in attendance a Vietnam Veteran Honor Hat and posed for a group photograph.
