Hurricane Recovery and Resilience Task Force scheduled community meetings in April and May

The Virgin Islands Hurricane Recovery and Resilience Task Force announced a series of community meetings, beginning with a housing information session on April 12, 2018, in St. Thomas.

The session was scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at WICO’s Conference Room, 9020 Havensight Mall, Long Bay. According to the announcement, the meeting was to provide an overview of the Virgin Islands Housing Finance Authority’s Emergency Home Repairs Program for eligible owner-occupied homes damaged by Hurricanes Irma or Maria.

The task force said the session also was to include a progress report from its housing sector, including plans to rebuild homes to current building-code standards and reconstruct vacant units for affordable housing.

Additional community meetings were scheduled for April 16, 2018, at the Great Hall on the University of the Virgin Islands St. Croix campus; April 17, 2018, at the Moravian Church on St. Croix; April 18, 2018, at Canegata Ballpark on St. Croix; April 24, 2018, at the Julius E. Sprauve Auditorium on St. John; and May 2, 2018, at Charlotte Amalie High School on St. Thomas.

The announcement said registration remained open for the April 12 housing session by email.
