Bryan proclaimed Virgin Islands day of prayer, fasting and reflection on March 30, 2020
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued a proclamation calling for a "U.S. Virgin Islands Day of Prayer, Fasting and Reflection" on Monday, March 30, 2020.
The proclamation also ordered businesses in the territory to cease operations from noon to 1 p.m. on March 30.
Government House said local radio stations WGOD, the WJKC family of stations, WSTX, WSTA, DaVybe, Reef Broadcasting and WVWI would air five-minute prayers by local clergy each hour for 24 hours beginning at 12 a.m. on March 30 and ending at 12 a.m. on March 31.
Government House also said Bryan, first lady Yolanda Bryan and local clergy would hold a prayer service from noon to 1 p.m. on March 30 from Government House in Christiansted, with a live broadcast carried by the Virgin Islands Consortium website and Facebook page.
In the proclamation, Bryan said residents should give thanks for health-care providers, caregivers and support workers during the coronavirus pandemic.
