WAPA resumed disconnection procedures for delinquent electric accounts with November 2018 billing

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on November 28, 2018, that it had resumed normal disconnection procedures for nonpayment beginning with electric bills issued in November 2018.

WAPA said the November billing marked a return to 30-day electric billing. Under the policy described in the notice, a bill issued on November 6, 2018, was due on November 26, became delinquent on November 27, and was followed by a late notice on November 28. If unpaid, the account became subject to disconnection on December 12, 2018.

The authority said it had not disconnected customers for nonpayment since the 2017 hurricanes. It also said payment-plan assistance had been offered to some customers who received multi-month bills and that customers with unresolved electric or potable water account issues could contact WAPA customer service offices on St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John.
