Road closures and water interruptions were scheduled in Christiansted and Frederiksted for St. Croix water projects
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said road closures in Christiansted, St. Croix, were scheduled to begin on February 16, 2021, and continue through March 5, 2021, as work proceeded on a water rehabilitation project.
WAPA said contractor Leumas Engineering was set to install a 10-inch water main and other service lines along Hospital Street. The authority said portions of New Street, Eastern Suburb, Little Hospital Street, Gallows Bay, Hospital Street, Tulipan Welcome, Flamboyant Welcome, Eliza’s Retreat, Tide Village, Altona and Estate Welcome were expected to experience water service interruptions beginning February 16, 2021, to facilitate the work.
WAPA also scheduled weekday road closures in Frederiksted from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for dust-abatement work along the Frederiksted Water Rehabilitation Project route. The schedule listed King Street on Mondays and Thursdays, Queen Street on Tuesdays and Fridays, and Prince Street on Wednesdays.
The authority said no service interruptions were planned in connection with the Frederiksted road closures and dust-abatement work.
According to the notice, the Christiansted and Frederiksted projects involved replacing old ductile iron water lines with new PVC lines.
