St. Croix abattoir reopened on April 9, 2019
The Virgin Islands Department of Agriculture said on April 9, 2019, that the St. Croix abattoir had reopened.
The department said it would announce collection and shipment dates for livestock farmers and others in the St. Thomas-St. John district who required slaughtering. It said slaughter bills had to be paid before animals were shipped.
The department also said it was distributing bagged mulch donated by Arthur Joseph of 3G Consulting, with a limit of four bags per person.
According to the announcement, the mulch was available on St. Thomas at Estates Dorothea and Bordeaux and at Addelita Cancryn School. Recipients were required to load their own buckets or trucks.
