Mapp recognizes Nurses, Hospital and Tourism weeks in proclamations
Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp issued proclamations recognizing National Nurses Week, National Hospital Week and National Tourism Week in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The proclamations designated May 6-12, 2018, as National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week, and also recognized National Tourism Week for the same dates.
National Nurses Week was recognized under the theme "Nurses Inspire, Innovate, Influence." The proclamation said the American Nurses Association, Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center, and Roy Lester Schneider Medical Center would mark the observance.
National Hospital Week was recognized under the theme "Caring Is Our Calling," honoring healthcare professionals and medical personnel.
National Tourism Week was recognized under the theme "Travel Then and Now." The proclamation said the Department of Tourism had organized month-long community activities as part of the 35th annual National Travel and Tourism Week.
The tourism proclamation also asked the community to wear red on May 8, 2018, in salute to service-industry workers.
