WAPA CEO addressed lawsuit over St. Croix water quality
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on November 29, 2023, that it was responding to a lawsuit tied to water-quality issues on St. Croix and said it remained focused on improving water service for customers on the island.
In the statement, WAPA said it had taken steps to address water-quality concerns and cited participation in Environmental Protection Agency dialogue sessions and an informational meeting on St. Croix. The authority also said it had launched a Clean Water Action initiative and conducted public outreach through a virtual town hall, radio interviews, public service announcements, text alerts, social media updates, press conferences, televised educational advertisements, multilingual FAQ handouts and press releases.
