ST. CROIX — V.I.P.D. officers of the Special Operations Bureau and Marine Unit on Thursday at roughly 12:10 p.m. arrested Uhura B. George, age 24 of Estate Morningstar and Jomoi A. Weeks, age 26 of Castle Burke, and charged them with possession of an unlicensed firearm.
According to police spokesman Toby Derima, officers responding to reports of suspicious activity in the Halfpenny Beach area conducted a traffic stop of a black Honda Accord. During the course of the traffic stop, officers discovered two firearms inside the vehicle. A subsequent check was made and neither of the men were licensed to carry firearms. George and Weeks, who were in the vehicle, were both placed under arrest as a result.
Unable to make bail of $25,000 each, both men were remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional facility pending their advisement hearing.
