Coutinho, 29, became the third most expensive player in football history when he left Anfield for the Camp Nou in a £105million deal but has has failed to live up to expectations at Barcelona since joining in January 2018.

Former Barca head coach Ronald Koeman tried to restore Coutinho’s form on the pitch but he has only managed one goal in 11 appearances this season.

The Dutch boss was relieved from his duties and has now been replaced by club legend Xavi.

He wants to see Coutinho in action to figure out how he could utilise him in this current Barcelona team.

Spanish publication SPORT have claimed that the 29-year-old will reject offers from foreign clubs, with Newcastle United heavily linked.

Barcelona will always find it hard to shift the player due to his large wages so it seems they will be unable to recoup some of the money they spent on him three years ago.
