Man Dies After Sustaining Several Gunshots Near Basketball Court in Glynn; Victim Identified
ST. CROIX — At least one man died and one home was damaged in what appeared to be two separate incidents, both of which occurred in Estate Glynn Tuesday night, the V.I. Police Department has confirmed to the Consortium following an inquiry.
V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte said that the 911 Emergency Call Center received notification of several shots being fired in the Estate Glynn area at 6:56 p.m. The caller said shots were fired at the victim who was near a basketball court with other individuals. According to police, the suspects fled the scene in a black Honda Civic and Black Acura TSX.
Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene confirmed that the victim — identified by next of kin as 56-year-old Lenroy Alexander Dion Carr — was dead on arrival.
Ten minutes following the call of gunshots that resulted in the death of the male victim, the 911 Emergency Call Center received another call from a woman living in Estate Glynn who told police that her home was damaged by gunshots. However, there were no injuries reported and the V.I.P.D. had not identified suspects, Mr. Dratte said.
The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information about the homicide and reckless endangerment incidents to send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
