ST. THOMAS — A man has been arrested in connection with a fight at the Emerald Beach Hotel in St. Thomas that resulted in one individual being shot.
According to V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte, on Monday officers from the V.I. Port Authority Police Department were dispatched at about 7:59a.m. to the Emerald Beach Hotel in reference to a fight in progress.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a male individual was shot during the fight at the hotel and he was transported via EMS to the Schneider Regional Medical Center to receive further medical treatment.
On Tuesday, detectives with the V.I.P.D.’s Criminal Investigation Bureau arrested 42-year-old Osie Ferguson in the area of Oswald Harris Court in connection with the shooting.
He was charged with first-degree assault, third-degree assault, possession of a dangerous weapon during a crime of violence, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, first-degree reckless endangerment, disturbance of the peace by fighting, and simple assault.
Unable to make bail of $200,00, Ferguson was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
