Since the COVID 19 pandemic started, you’ll hear how it’s affected people. But what about the animals at rescue shelters? Currently, rescue shelters are having a hard time getting pets to their “Forever” homes, says Rhea Vasconcellos who’s the Shelter Manager and Program Manager of the Humane Society of St. Thomas USVI The Humane Society of St. Thomas. Vasconcellos says overcrowding at resuce shelters is a growing issue the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as nationwide. COVID 19 has greatly impacted people and families needing to relocate, and many times pets are left behind.
Vasconcellos and the team at the Humane Soceity of St. Thomas are encouraging the community or anyone who’s interested to help foster or adopt pets. This will greatly help with overcrowding and possibly save a life.
