Errol Spence has revealed that he’s suffered from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) as a result of his 2019 car crash.

The unified WBC and IBF welterweight world champion survived a life-threatening high-speed incident, in which he was ejected from his Ferrari due to not wearing a seatbelt.

Asked if he experienced PTSD during his recovery, Spence told The Good Fight with Kate Abdo: “Oh definitely.

“When I was driving I would have like different flashes of a car running into me.

“Or I’d be at a red light and I’d just have flashes of cars hitting me and getting into car crashes all the time.

“It was when I’m just driving down the street or at a red light or anything.

“PTSD is definitely a real thing because I was having flashes all the time about getting in accidents.

“I still have them sometimes when I’m driving.”

Spence went on to add: “My mum and my manager actually wanted me to see a psychiatrist.

“I seen one for a day and then I went, ‘Nah, this ain’t for me.’ I’m not good at telling somebody else my business.”

Spence then went on to reveal that he found himself in a second car accident just three months after the dramatic first crash which made headlines.

“I actually got into another accident three months after my accident,” he added.

“Somebody hit me from behind.

“It shook me up a little bit, but it’s really hard to get to me. I’m always on an even keel.

“My insurance company kicked me out.

“I was in a G-Wagon, so they were like, ‘He messed up a Ferrari, now a G-Wagon 4×4.’

“They came out at like $600,000 in like five/six months. They paid me outright for both of the cars.”
