Bryan Out of Territory on Personal Time; Lt. Gov. Roach is Acting Governor

• Bookmarks: 31

Governor Albert Bryan left the territory Sunday on personal time, Gov’t House has announced.

The vacation follows his reelection victory on Nov. 8 where he defeated challenger Sen. Kurt Vialet, which capped a grueling campaign season.

The governor will return on Saturday, according to Gov’t House, and Lt. Gov. Tregenza Roach will serve as governor while Mr. Bryan is out.

“I need some rest; I’ve been really burning it for the last four years,” the governor said during his last Press Box event for his first term, hosted by the Consortium’s Ernice Gilbert. “People say you get tired maybe from the week, I’m tired from four years — maybe six. I haven’t really taken a break that much but I’m going to take a little time off and catch myself.

“But I’m fired up and ready to go for these next four,” he said.

Inauguration, by law, is set for Jan. 2, 2023, however it remains uncertain as to whether the date will be changed as it conflicts with activities of the upcoming Crucian Christmas Festival.
