• Bookmarks: 22

ST. CROIX — The body of a woman was found on the side of a roadway in Estate St. John — located around 100 yards from the Judith’s Fancy Entrance — on Tuesday morning, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has confirmed to the Consortium.

The Consortium was made aware of the incident just after 7:00 a.m. and traveled to the location. On the scene, a number of investigators, along with the medical examiner/coroner’s office vehicle on location to collect the body.

The incident was being treated as a crime, however Mr. Derima said investigators had not found any signs of foul play, and that an investigation into the matter would continue. The woman is said to be in the age range of 50s-60.

Next of kin had not been notified at time of writing, Mr. Derima said. At least three marked and several unmarked police vehicles were on the scene during the investigation.

Officers conducting the investigation spoke to residents in the area asking whether they had heard any noises, the Consortium was told. This story will be updated once the victim has been identified and next of kin notified.

The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information about this matter to call 911 or send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
