Armed Robbers Attack St. John Jewelry Store in Broad Daylight, Stealing Inventory

ST. JOHN — Three men dressed in dark clothing and wearing bandanas attacked a jewelry store in St. John Wednesday afternoon, stealing the store’s inventory and fleeing the area on foot, according to the V.I. Police Department.

V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte reported Wednesday afternoon that the robbers attacked Imperial Jewelers located at the Mongoose Junction shopping and dining facility just after 1:00 p.m. He said a preliminary investigation revealed that the men entered the store with guns. They then broke a glass casing containing jewelry with a hammer, took the precious items and fled by foot towards Northshore Road.

No one was injured during the incident, according to police. The dollar amount of stolen jewelry had not been determined at time of publication.

Mr. Dratte said an investigation was launched. The V.I.P.D. is asking the community to come forward with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.
