ST. THOMAS — A shooting incident in Savan on Sunday left one individual dead and another receiving treatment at the Schneider Regional Medical Center, the V.I. Police Department has announced.
According to V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte, the incident was reported to the 911 Emergency Call Center at about 3:53 p.m. Sunday by concerned residents.
Officers were dispatched to the scene but the individuals had been transported to the hospital by private vehicle, according to Mr. Dratte.
The V.I.P.D. release did not provide details regarding how the shooting occurred, or what may have prompted the violence.
The deceased victim was identified by next of kin as 29-year-old Shamon K. Charleswell.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, said Mr. Dratte. The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with information that may help law enforcement to call 340-774-2211, or the Criminal Investigation Unit’s Major Crimes Division at 340-642-8449.
